A woman’s work never gets over. Whether it’s about shaping her career straight out of college, making a home, nurturing love and care to her kids or be it becoming a perfect daughter, wife, mother or a friend. Skincare invariably has turned out to be the last priority for most of the women, but it’s important to note that to have a glowing and beautiful skin in your 40’s is always the outcome of utmost care and attention in your 20’s.

In Your 20’s

Despite occasional acne, your skin still stays healthy. Haywire hormones and exposure to the sun are the main concerns at this age and most of the skin issues in your 20’s are the results of inadequate lifestyle choices: alcohol consumption, irregular sleep cycles, restless partying and smoking.

Your Everyday Skincare Regime:

Cleansing: Cleanse your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser. Avoid using scrubs more than once a week.

Moisturising: Use a light cream for the day and an oil-free moisturiser for nighttime.

Sun protection: Avoid stepping out without applying a good sunscreen. You will reap the fruits of using a sunscreen later. When you with your flawless skin meet friends with a pigmented patchy skin or an uneven bad skin in your 25’s you will definitely feel proud and be thankful for this tip.

The Treatment For Your Concerns:

Acne: Mostly people in their 20’s complain about acne. Use a spot treatment cream consisting Benzyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid or organic substitutes like Tea Bag or Neem for mild breakouts. Don’t pick your skin, it can lead to long-lasting scars. You need to see your dermatologist in case of serious and persistent acne.

Pigmentation: To get rid of patchy skin use a cream containing Vitamins C and E or Retinol. Chemical peels can be a good option for lightening pigmentation giving you a radiant skin. Always protect your skin from the sun. After cleaning your face, use a vitamin C serum and do not forget to remove your makeup before going to bed.

Anti-ageing: The most effective anti-ageing strategy is taking great care and maintaining your skin in your 20’s. Regular skin cleanups should be taken to remove blackheads and whiteheads especially around and over the nose. The Oxygen Jet Peel can be a good choice as a jet of pure oxygen helps to cleanse impurities from your face.

In Your 30’s

The ’30’s are an indication of coming age, not just in the numbers and the mind but also on your skin. You might tend to notice more fine lines, dark circles under your eyes, sun spots, and hyper-pigmentation. A few might suffer from adult acne due to hormonal imbalances and stress.

Your Everyday Skincare Regime:

Cleansing: Be very gentle with your skin. You should clean your face twice a day and avoid using the antibacterial washes you did in your teens.

Moisturising: Try and stick to antioxidant-rich serums or moisturisers. Look for ingredients such as Coffee, Vitamin C, Soy and Berry. These guard your skin from sun damage and undo existing damage. A Hyaluronic Acid is also a good option because it helps reduce fine lines and suits most of the skin types. For dry skin, prefer oil-based moisturisers to hydrate your skin. Also, moisturise your hands and neck as they show the earliest signs of ageing.

Sun protection: Use a good spectrum UVB & UVB protective sunscreen every day and reapply the same after every two hours.

The Treatment For Your Concerns:

Brown spots: Also known as sunspots, most common skin problems faced during your 30’s. To vanish these use sunblock from sunrise to sunset. Also, a brown discoloration called Melasma caused due to sunlight exposure, genes and hormones also tend to come up.

Fine lines: Towards the end of your 30’s fine lines become more prominent and the shape of your face begins to change due to dislocation of the facial fat pad beneath your skin.

For this, try Vitamins, medications and amino acids that replenish, lighten and tighten your skin.

Other alternates can be good skin peels and skin booster packs which stimulate collagen.

In Your 40’s

Around your mid-40’s , laugh lines and creases over the forehead begin to appear. Pigmentation also gets terrible. Women during this phase tend to have dipping estrogen levels and menopause-related hormonal imbalances leading to less elastic and drier skin. This begins to show around the eyes and neck.

Your Everyday Skincare Regime:

Cleansing: At this point a hydrating cleanser used twice a day, preferably a non-foaming one would be a good option.

Moisturising: Go for richer and thicker moisturisers with SPF to add collagen-building and hydration ingredients inside your skin. Get religious about applying night creams and eye creams if you haven’t used them already. If the skin on your neck and hands tend to show lack of elasticity, try using an anti-ageing product which includes Retinols and Peptides for unwrinkled and plump skin.

Sun protection: Wear a good sunscreen with adequate SPF every day.

The Treatment For Your Concerns:

Dry skin: To treat dry skin you will require to moisturise a few more times during the day and also use a thick cream-based moisturiser at-least once a day. You must avoid products that likely tend to irritate your skin or end up with dryness.

Pigmentation: A Vitamin C serum under your daytime moisturiser and again during the night, along with a skin lightening cream for reduction of pigmentation can work wonders.

Wrinkles : Botox can diminish frown lines while temporary fillers made of Hyaluronic Acid stimulates collagen production and works on eyes, jowls and sunken cheeks. Many non invasive radio-frequency-based tightening treatment will help rectify sagging skin, renewing and sculpting.

In Your 50’s And Beyond

The one skin concern that defines this age, its sagging. Although wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation and dry skin are the too many annoying problems, especially if you have been ignorant towards sun protection, it’s the loss of skin elasticity which is most heart breaking. Which is generally due to reduced levels of Collagen that makes the skin appear looser and thinner.  Smile lines, furrows on the forehead and hanging jowls are the most common problems. This is the time you need to dedicate yourself towards firming and tightening up your skin. Dry skin is also one the common problems.

Your Everyday Skincare Routine:

Cleansing: Use a super hydrating face wash to cleanse your face twice a day.

Moisturising: Moisturising needs to be done more often, using a rich moisturiser consisting of Hyaluronic and Squalene Acid and Shea Butter, SPF and antioxidants. During the daytime, apply a moisturiser that contains antioxidants to fight back free radicals and Hyaluronic Acid for the moisture to get locked. To boost the skin’s oil level applying anti-ageing serum and rich night cream at night can be very beneficial. Your night cream must contain Phytoestrogens to cope up with hormonal ageing. Do not avoid your hands and neck because they tend to age faster as compared to your skin.

The Treatment For Your Concerns

Wrinkles: Botox injections and laser treatments are great options to get free o wrinkles and other such skin flaws. Non-surgical skin tightening procedures using infrared light and radio-frequency are great options.

Sunken cheeks/eyes: Dermal fillers can help you fill out hollows and add vitality back inside your skin.

Skin fatigue: PPR procedures reintroduce growth back into skin to stimulate Elastin and Collagen.
